There is a wide variety of reactions to trauma. Survivors may experience changes in sleep, eating habits, sexual activity, and ability to concentrate at work or school. They may feel depressed, moody, angry at themselves or others, and quick to "over react" to every day occurrences. Some survivors want to keep it silent and never discuss it, while others feel the need to talk about it over and over. It is normal for survivors to struggle with issues of safety, trust, intimacy, and self-blame.
What exactly is rape?
Rape is any non-consentual form of intercourse. Rape is never in the name of love, love is never brutal.. Rape is the most aggressive and demeaning form of abuse that a woman can suffer in her lifetime. Rape is the ultimate struggle of Power. A rapist doesn't rape a woman because he enjoys the act of intimacy, A rapist Rapes for the feeling of Power.

"The high incidence of rape in this country is a result of the power imbalance between men and women. Women are expected to assume a subordinate relationship to men. Consequently, rape can be seen as a logical extension of the typical interactions between women and men. One way to analyze the power relationship between men and women is by examining some of the common social rules women are taught." from: Defining A Rape Culture
