Letter From Grandma

This is Tony! a normal, red-blooded American boy?(man)
Tony is my grandson, son of my youngest daughter.
March of 1999, after graduating High School, he decided to go into the service.
After his first hitch in the Army, and many months in Korea,
he decided the best thing for his future
since jobs were scarce would be to re-up.

Little did any of us know or even think about what
that would mean. This week we learned of his
possible deployment to the troubled areas of the world..
We can only put our military heros in the hands of God.
Pray for our leaders in this perilous time,
then set home and remember, and pray some more.
Yes, there will be a lot of prayers and a lot of tears.
Oh, yes! there will oceans of tears.
God says in His word that "those who sow in tears
shall reap in joy". Psalms 126:5
and, "tears are but for a night,
but joy cometh in the morning."

And so, Tony, I am trusting God to protect you.
To guide you on your way and give you
rest when you are weary, courage to face what is
ahead, joy in times of sadness,
courage in the face of danger, and peace in the loneliness.
The joy will come when once again you are safely
home. Don't ever forget your family loves you
and are waiting prayerfully for you. God bless you, Tony.
My Love Always,
Grandma

I received the dreaded news yesterday.
Tony got his deployment orders.
He will leave for Kuwait on Sunday, March 2,2003.
Please pray for all our people in the dangerous
zones of this world. Only God can end this
insanity and put an end to man's madness.

My dear grandson, Tony.
It is 3/23/03. As I watch the news and reports of the war on TV
I can only imagine the stress of fear and homesickness
that you are feeling. My heart is with you and I want
you to know I am praying for you constantly.
Last night when the news of your camp being hit by grenades,
I thought my heart would jump out.
What a shock this must have been to all of you,
to learn it was one of your own who did this terrible thing..
My heart goes out to the families of the officer who died, and those injured.
Stay safe my dear grandson...come home soon...you are missed
and you are loved..God be with you...stand proud...keep faith.
Love,
Grandma
