For Today

Lord, let me take tomorrow
Place it in Thy tender care.
But of today, I ask Thee-
Let me be more aware.

Let me take each precious moment,
Of this day now at hand.
If I seem to be impatient,
Please try to understand.

Fill the emptiness I feel
With deep abiding grace.
Fill my soul with courage,
As each new day I face.

And when I start to ponder
The fear of what's in store,
Let me know that you are standing,
By my side forevermore.

So of this day I ask you
Of my daily life to make,
One of patience, love and truth,
Not for others, but for my sake.

Please, renew my faith in You, Lord,
Cleanse my soul of doubt and sorrow.
Let me never long for yesturday
Or be impatient for tomorrow.
