PLEA FOR CHRISTOPHER

On July eighth, nineteen eighty-five,
God sent me Christopher, he was barely alive.
Eight months old , but like a newborn;
Neglected and sick, he looked so forlorn
His stomach was bloated from lack of food,
You could count every rib when he lay nude.
Both ears were infected, his mouth was all white.
From a disease called, thrush, a pitiful sight.
His body was covered with bites from fleas,
And he has Aarskog Syndrome, a genetic disease.
His cry, like a kitten, barely heard,
He lay unresponsive, never uttered a word.
This was the baby God sent me to save,
So, I took the challenge to become his slave.
Determined to shower this baby with care,
I started each day with a heartfelt prayer.
I rocked him and held him close to my heart,
Jumped to his side if a cry he would start.
Fed him, and bathed him, tended with love,
For I feel that Christopher was sent from above.
God did a miracle, and now you can see,
That Chris is as happy as a boy can be.
He thinks I'm his Mommie, and so I AM,
In the sight of God, can you understand?
It takes more then *birthing life*, to be
A real mother, at heart can't you see?
So, Judge I would plead, as you decide;
Consider these years I have stood at his side.
Watching and praying, loving this boy.
He's become my life, my pride and joy.
But far above all, I know it would be,
Tragic for Chris, if you took him from me.
I'm the only security he's ever known.
He depends on me, and me alone.
Noone will love him the way that I do!
So, now, Judge, I guess his life rests with you!
I adopted Chris when he was nine years old...He is my son!
Chris is developementally delayed and slightly MR..also
is ADHD..but he is doing fine in special classes and also plays basketball in special olympics..
He is a very outgoing boy and loves to talk, especially to adults.
I beleive I am the oldest single MOM in town.
