By Faith

I stood at the gates and peered with-in,
And marveled at the streets of gold.
Then slowly I turned to walk away,
Feeling suddenly forlorn and cold.

Oh God! I'm not worthy to enter in,
For the sins in my life still remain.
There are hurts still unhealed and things unforgiven,
And I fear that my life was in vain.

You called to me, I wanted to heed,
But fear of failure took hold.
I made up excuses, and failed to obey,
So now I'm left out of the fold.

Suddenly, a light shone round about,
And I felt engulfed in His love.
Then, all at once the most beautiful voice,
It came from the Father above.

"My Child; you don't enter in at the gate,
By anything you may have done.
You walk along the golden streets,
By your faith in my Beloved Son!"
